Most people will insist that government is doing its best to help, and the news just reports the truth, and people complain because those who are trying their best to help can't please everyone...

But it's just as likely that the people in the television keep you frustrated with boring economics, depressing politics, fake news and conspiracy theories.

And while you're busy studying the endless stream of mood terrorism, like cats distracted by a laser pen, the makers of history are dreaming up the next insulting distraction to keep you out of their way.

There's a war on drugs that hasn't ended yet.

A war on terrorism that'll never end.

And now there's a war on drug terrorism, which may last forever.

We might believe that obsessive analysis of the ruling class will keep us safe.

We are, in fact, just like children preoccupied with a jigsaw puzzle while the grown ups destroy our lives.

A process you'll also study to excess, and history's actors will act again. And you'll be left to study what they do again and again.

But whether the empire is lying to keep us busy, divided and miserable or not, we need to live in a way that doesn't change with the headlines.

We need to live as people were intended to live; with some fucking dignity.
